Description: Half-length portrait shows unknown woman with long brown hair reading a letter with red heart. The woman is dressed provocatively in peasant-type garb: white blouse falling off shoulder and gathered green skirt. She leans on table, while seated in front of window with potted geranium.
Signatures/Inscriptions/Labels: Stencil on upper left verso: "C. Neumayer pinxit". Canvas stamp: "FROM / H? R. DODGE & CO. 42 BA?? ST / BALTIMORE". Lower stretcher member, stencilled in black, upside down: "2227"
