Description: Full-length portait of young child of Reverend Richard Chase. Subject is probably girl. Child wears blue dress with red and white floral pattern. Child pets spaniel, who has jumped up, with left hand and holds two cherries in right hand. Subject wears red shoes, blue dress, and white headdress. Gold drapery is seen in background at right.
Signatures/Inscriptions/Labels: Label: "Child of Rev. Richard / Chase (1692-1742) of London / and Maryland, and his wife / Margaret Frances Townley, / (d. 1741) / Bequested by Mrs. Mary / Chase Merrill, June 7, 1928."
