The Arts Need You: Be a Maryland Arts Advocate!

by: Erin K. Smith, Program Assistant, Maryland Citizens for the Arts

Maryland Citizens for the Arts: Serving the Arts through Advocacy, Education and Outreach

February 24, 2005-Come to Annapolis on Thursday, March 3rd in the Lowe House Office Building, Room 130, 1:00 (was 2:00) and FRIDAY, March 3rd (was Monday, March 7th) in the Miller Senate Building, 3 West, 1:00 p.m. for the House and Senate Budget Hearings. We need your testimony and your presence. Our sources in Annapolis have reminded us that nothing is guaranteed and arts funding is vulnerable.

We need large numbers on the 3rd and the 7th to show the subcommittees how important the Maryland State Arts Council's budget is to Maryland. The numbers of arts advocates at these events are strongly correlated to our success in retaining funding.

Contact Maryland Citizens for the Arts ASAP to let us know by MONDAY, February 28th if you plan to attend and/or if you plan to prepare testimony for the House and Senate Subcommittees.

Maryland Citizens for the Arts will convene a "brown bag update" in Annapolis from 11:30- 12:30 on both days prior to the hearings (location TBA).

Please RSVP to 410.203.1301 or mdarts@erols.com so we can make the necessary arrangements.

We look forward to seeing you there!
