Xianmen Photography Contest Call for Artists

Submit your "Baltimore 24: Our City by Night and Day" photograph/s and application form/s by May 27, 2005!
March 24, 2005-The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts and the Mayor's Office of International Affairs, in association with the Baltimore Xiamen Sister City Committee, are sponsoring an XIAMEN PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST for Baltimore City professional and amateur photographers. Submitted works should reflect the theme, "Baltimore 24: Our City by Night and Day."

Up to forty works will be chosen and exhibited in Xiamen (pronounced zha-men), China in September of 2005, as part of the Baltimore Trade and Cultural Mission to China, commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Sister City relationship between Baltimore and Xiamen.

Important Dates
  • May 27, 2005 — Submissions due
  • July 1, 2005 — Winners announced
  • July 22 - 24, 2005 — Winning work exhibited at Artscape
  • September, 2005 — Winning work exhibited in Xiamen, China

Xiamen Photography Contest Guidelines
  • Open to amateur and professional photographers who are Baltimore City residents and age 18 and above.
  • Photographers may submit up to three (3) images.
    • Submission should consist of a completed and signed application form and a CD with up to three (3) jpeg files of photographs.
    • Files should be labeled with last name followed by number corresponding to the description sheet.
    • All submitted works must be available to be shown as 16" x 20" prints.
    • Only digital images and properly identified will be accepted.
  • The original photography should be taken by the photographer using a camera. There is no limitation set for digital post-processing effects.
  • One entry form (accessible below) must accompany the CD containing the images. Each photograph is a single entry. However, a piece with multiple images will be considered a series. Each series may include a maximum of three images.
  • Both black & white and color photographs are acceptable.
  • Notification will be made by email. Please remember to write your email address legibly on the application form (accessible below).
  • No application materials will be returned.
The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts and the Mayor's Office of International Affairs respect the Copyright and Intellectual Property laws. Photographers retain full copyright of the submitted photography; however, the sponsors of the contest reserve the right to use images for promotional purposes.
