A Graphic Identity for the 25th Artscape: Competition for Artists

October 06, 2005-The 25th edition of Artscape will occur July 21-23, 2006. For this landmark year, we are sponsoring our second Graphic Identity competition. As with last year we plan to select a logo from this competition that will be used on printed materials, banners, t-shirts that will be for sale at the festival, program cover, stickers and other graphics related to the festival.

Based on response and space availability, we also plan to select a group of submissions that will be posted on our website and printed festival program.

Integrity of design will be the most important factor in review of submissions. Thematic cues that relate to the anniversary, while acceptable, are not of the utmost importance. What we do want in the logo are [1] the name Artscape, [2] the numeral 25, [3] the date, either '06 or 2006 and [4] Baltimore (note: Baltimore and the date do not have to be large). The design may include as many colors as wished but must also have a functional black and white version.

Artscape 2006 is the 25th year of Baltimore's annual arts festival and is one of the largest in the region. 100,000's of visitors attend Artscape each year.

Guidelines
    1. The competition is open to artists, designers and other interested parties with no age or geographic limitations.
    2. The logo should contain the words "Artscape", "25", "2006 or '06" and "Baltimore". (note: Baltimore and the date do not have to be large)
    3. Application should include an inkjet print of your logo in color and in black and white on one 8 ½ x 11" page, a CD-Rom containing jpeg versions of the same images and a one page resume or bio. Application materials will NOT be returned. Do not send original drawings.
    4. The winning designer will receive a $1,000 honorarium and 10 t-shirts using their logo.
    5. Artscape reserves the right to reproduce submitted logos for printed or internet publicity, catalogue or marketing purposes relating to the competition.
